Young Brothers Raise Funds for Camp Wannaklot
HoG salutes client Joshua and his brother Thomas for their generosity.

Boys donate to campDear Hemophilia of Georgia:

My brother and I had our birthdays in January and February of this year. We decided that instead of getting birthday presents from our friends we would have a big party and collect money for HoG.  We are enclosing pictures from our party along with the $315 we collected. We hope you can use this money to help boys and girls go to Camp Wannaklot this summer.

Hemophilia Awareness Night with the Atlanta Braves
The Hemophilia Awareness Night at the Atlanta Braves game was rained out on June 4, 2009.  Nearly 100 tickets were sold to clients and their family members, board members of HoG, and dedicated volunteers. Some friends of HoG did attend the event and got a little wet.  However, a make up game has been scheduled for Monday June 22nd at 7:10 p.m.  See all the details for the make up game online.  And, be sure to take a look at the Braves players video announcement for the golf tournament.

Mighty StickerNew Mighty Sticker
Congratulations to Joel C. for successfully completing self-infusion training and becoming a member of the Mighty Sticker Club!  He correctly demonstrated how to mix and infuse his factor using aseptic technique.  Joel learned to infuse himself by watching his mother’s technique during factor infusions; participating in training sessions with his HTC nurse and HoG outreach nurse; and practicing at Camp Wannaklot.

Joel's HTC nurse and social worker are so proud of him that they attended his demonstration and were on hand to see him receive his Mighty Sticker Club certificate and watch.

Dear HoG,
I don’t want my child to suffer when he gets stuck to receive factor, so I have been using ELA-Max cream, an over the counter numbing medicine before we begin to stick. I have read conflicting things on the Internet about this cream, and wonder how much to use, and is it safe for my child?
--Concerned Parent

Dear Concerned Parent,
You are right to be concerned and ask questions about the safety of any medication or product you or your family uses.  Read more about using ELA-Max safely.
