The doctor at clinic wrote my prescription for Amicar® to say, "Take 5 ccs every 6 hours as needed for mouth bleeding." My measuring cup is marked in mls. HELP!! What is the difference?

Dear Confused Mom:
That is a question that comes up frequently! The abbreviation "cc" stands for cubic centimeter and "ml" stands for milliliter. In measuring liquids, the volume is exactly the same: 1 cc = 1 ml. The amount to measure is used both ways by doctors. Thanks for helping us clear up this confusing issue.
