Factor (Bleeding Disorder Medication)

How much factor should we send? Send enough factor for the full week of camp (prophylactic and PRN).

  •  If you are unsure, please contact your child’s physician.
  • HoG will provide infusion supplies at camp — do not pack infusion supplies.

How does factor get to camp?

  • If you order through HoG or Beacon Pharmacy, factor can be shipped directly to camp, or you can bring your home supply.
  • If you do not use HoG or Beacon, you must bring factor to check-in/bus drop-off.

How should factor be packed?

  • Pack factor separately from your child’s luggage.
  • Keep factor in the original shipping boxes/bags.
  • HoG staff will check in and inventory factor at the bus location/check-in.
  • Coolers will be available to store/transport factor.

What happens after camp?

  • You will receive documentation of factor used during camp.
  • Unused factor will be returned to you at the end of the week.
  • If HoG stock factor is used, it will be billed to insurance or other payment sources.

Bringing medications to camp
•    Send only a full week’s supply of all medications.
•    HoG Nurses will administer medications based on bottle directions.
•    Medications are checked in and stored separately from factor.
