Scholar Responsibilities
Scholar Acceptance & Onboarding
• Award recipients must formally accept or decline the award within a week of notification through a signed formal award agreement. If individual circumstances make this challenging, please notify the program as soon as possible.
• Scholars are responsible for providing all required financial and payment information necessary to process award disbursement.
• Scholars are expected to participate in periodic program-sponsored meetings, dinners, and networking events that foster collegiality, mentorship, and connection among Dominic Scholars and the broader bleeding disorder community. If participation is not feasible due to individual circumstances, Scholars should notify Hemophilia of Georgia.
Service Commitment
• Participation in the program carries a defined service obligation. The length of the service commitment is tied to the duration of support received.
• Scholars will submit annual documentation confirming employment status and clinical effort.
• Scholars are expected to fulfill all service requirements outlined in their award agreement.
• Scholars are expected to notify Hemophilia of Georgia as soon as possible if there are any employment changes or interruptions in service. Failure to fulfill the required service commitment, or any interruption in service that prevents completion of program obligations, may result in repayment of all or a portion of award funds, as determined by Hemophilia of Georgia based on the circumstances of the individual case.
Ongoing Program Participation
• Scholars should remain engaged and responsive to the program communications.
• Timely responses to requests for information, updates, and program-related activities are expected.
Tax Responsibilities
• Scholars should understand that loan repayment assistance may have tax implications.
• Scholars are encouraged to seek guidance from a qualified tax professional. Program administrators should not be considered tax advisors.
