Nikki shared, “I always knew I needed to be in a profession where I would help people directly. I did not know where that would lead me. I originally thought I would be a physical therapist, but my best friend’s mother is a nurse practitioner and she spent time discussing career opportunities and the roles of nurses with me. This led to my decision to choose nursing. My first nursing job was in a pediatric hematology/oncology inpatient unit in Charleston, SC. This is where I truly fell in love with my career choice. Helping patients medically and emotionally became my passion. I love putting a smile on a someone’s face when they need it.”
