Educate Your Child’s School on Bleeding Disorders

It’s not long before we put away the swim trunks and head back to school. There is no better time to make sure your child’s teachers and school staff understand how to respond to medical emergencies related to his or her inherited bleeding disorder. At Hemophilia of Georgia (HoG), our outreach nurses are happy to provide in-service presentations to your child’s school or day care center. The presentations can help give you and the staff peace of mind and action plans for managing your child’s bleeding disorder while in school.

During the presentations, our nurses will cover all the basics, answer questions and provide reassurance. We teach school staff when to call parents, and we discuss important topics such as discipline and safe sports. Parents are welcome to attend these presentations.

If you would like for us to present to your child’s school or day care center, please call your HoG nurse at 770-518-8272. If you are unsure which nurse to call, please ask for Samantha Carter. Either Samantha or your nurse will send you a form to give us permission to contact the school or day care center. If you prefer, your nurse will send you a packet of basic information about your child’s bleeding disorder and you can present this packet to the school personnel.

We are happy to do all we can to ensure that your child has a safe, happy and successful year.
