Camp Wannaklot

In this day of so many unknowns, there is one thing I am sure of — we are in this together! We are responsible for each other! We are tasked to stay home, flatten the curve, and wash our hands — all to benefit one another. That sense of responsibility, independence, and community are some of the core values of Camp Wannaklot.

As of today, based on current guidance and if we all do our part, we anticipate that we will be able to host Camp Wannaklot at Camp Twin Lakes July 19-24. If government guidance changes, we will adapt, and we will reach out to our camper families and volunteers.

Camp may look a little bit different than it has in the past, and that’s OK! The theme this year is “Adventure Awaits,” and we cannot wait to create and share some new adventures with our campers! We are currently planning how we can offer our camp program in new and different ways.

One of the most important things our campers experience at camp is connection to others in the bleeding disorder community. We are exploring ways that campers and volunteers can form those connections outside of camp. Would you like to be involved in the planning process? Email me at kawilliams@hog.org. I’d love to hear from you!

Attention volunteers — we can’t host camp without you! Camp will start for volunteers on July 18. We understand that there is a lot of uncertainty about schedules, and if you’re still going to be available to volunteer. If you think it’s a possibility, I encourage you to go ahead and apply.

Parents, did you just have a realization that you haven’t signed your child up for camp yet? Don’t panic! I still have a few spots open, so go to www.hog.org/camp-app to apply. I will be in touch! Those of you who did sign your child up for camp, check your email! There may be some additional forms to fill out.

Maya Angelou once said, “every storm runs out of rain.” I know we’re all ready for this COVID-19 storm to end, and for our normal activities to resume. I am excited about our future plans! If you need to reach me, call the office at 770-518-8272, ext. 202, or you can text or call the camp cell phone 404-218-0361. The best way to reach me is via email at kawilliams@hog.org.
