It was a perfect September weekend for the 160 family members, staff, and volunteers who attended HoG’s Family Camp at Camp Twin Lakes.  The families, staff and volunteers thoroughly enjoyed the weekend.  Families told us that they always have a great time and particularly like meeting and sharing with other families. Others said it was a very informative and fun weekend.  They learned about bleeding disorders and spent quality family time together.  Read more.

As part of the November 2nd election, voters in Georgia will decide the fate of five constitutional amendments.  The second of these amendments can have a direct benefit to the health and safety of all Georgians, especially those with bleeding disorders.  Read more.

Client Spotlight: Lorenzo G.Lorenzo

Lorenzo G., an actor, musician, writer and all-around creative arts dynamo, has shown us that nothing will hold him back – especially his bleeding disorder.  There is no stopping this sophomore at Atlanta International School.  He has four school plays under his belt and is currently in rehearsals for another.  This award-winning actor has completely embraced all that makes him who he is. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Here are some tips for good breast health: 1. Eat good fats and avoid the bad.  Good fats include olive oil, flaxseed oil, and fats from nuts, seeds, avocados, and coconuts.  Read more

Tyler J. and Mason W. both became new members of the Mighty Sticker Club while at Camp Wannaklot this summer.  Tyler and Mason each mastered the steps for self infusion including mixing factor, selecting a vein, sticking himself, giving his own factor and completing a treatment calendar.   Read more.

The HoG pharmacy and Beacon Pharmacy must have proof that each order they send out actually reached the client it was sent to and that the person placing the order had the opportunity to ask questions of the pharmacist.  Read more.

Research Update: Lab Rats Could Enhance Hemophilia Research 

In September, investigators from the Yale School of Medicine (YSM) revealed the discovery of a new animal model for future hemophilia A research—lab rats.  Read more.
