Dear HoG: Amicar Expiration

Dear HoG:

My son received a bottle of Amicar syrup from your pharmacy two years ago that he only used once. He is having dental work done next week. Will this Amicar still be good? Someone told me it never expires.

Dear Just Wondering:

It's always a good idea to keep some Amicar on hand for mouth bleeds if your physician has prescribed it. However, Amicar (both tablets and syrup) DOES expire. If you obtained it from the HoG pharmacy, an expiration date is printed on the label. Typically, the shelf life is between 1-3 years, so it is important to check the date. If you have any questions, call the pharmacy and they can look up your last Amicar order in the computer. The expiration date of the product dispensed to you will be on file. Good luck with the dental work!
