Horizons in Hemophilia, August 2015

By Karen Clark, RN, Outreach Nurse

We are happy to announce our newest member of the Mighty Sticker Club: Collin J.

Collin has been very active in attending and participating in many HoG activities through the years. He has attended Camp Wannaklot for the last eight summers. This summer was his last as a camper and he hopes to continue attending as a camp counselor. Collin learned to infuse at age 12 while attending Camp Wannaklot. He recently met with his Outreach Nurse, Karen Clark, and demonstrated all the steps of his infusion independently and was awarded a certificate and a gift card. Collin enjoys the “freedom of being a ‘self-infuser’ because it has allowed me to be more independent.” He is very active and spends a lot of time outdoors horseback riding, hiking, camping, hunting and fishing.

In addition to being involved with Camp Wannaklot, Collin has attended GTI (Georgia Teen Institute), NHF Washington Days, Hemophilia Day at the Georgia Capitol, and HoG’s teen retreats. Collin has shown great leadership skills and is a Leader in Training (LIT). We look forward to having him serve as a Camp Wannaklot counselor in the years ahead.

Congratulations Collin! We are so proud of you.
