Review of Factor Product Changes

Over the past year or so, several changes have occurred with factor products on the market. New needleless access devices, higher dosage range assays, and dilution volumes have made their way onto the scene. All new features are designed by the drug companies to offer more convenience to users. Below is a summary of these changes and additions:

Advate (Baxter)
Dilution volume = 5ml
Access device: Baxject II
Vial sizes available: 250 IU, 500 IU, 1000 IU, 1500 IU, 2000 IU, and 3000 IU

Helixate FS (CSL Behring)
Dilution volume = 2.5ml
Access device: Mix2vial
Vial sizes available: 250 IU, 500 IU, 1000 IU, and 2000 IU (5ml)

Kogenate FS (Bayer)
Dilution volume = 2.5ml
Access device: With and without Bioset
Vial sizes available: 250 IU, 500 IU, 1000 IU, and 2000 IU (5ml)

Hemofil M & Monarc M (Baxter)
Dilution volume = 10ml
Access device: Baxject II
Vial sizes available: 250 IU, 500 IU, 1000 IU, and 1500 IU

Refacto (Wyeth)
Dilution volume = 4ml
Access device: R2 Kits
Vial sizes available: 250 IU, 500 IU, 1000 IU, and 2000 IU

Benefix (Wyeth)
Dilution volume = 5ml
Access device: R2 kit
Vial sizes available: 250 IU, 500 IU, 1000 IU, and 2000 IU

Humate P (CSL Behring)
Access device: Mix2vial
Vial sizes and dilution volumes: 500 RCo units = 5ml, 1000 RCo units = 10ml, 2000 RCo units = 15ml
