Hemophilia of Georgia invited adults (age 21 and up) who live in Georgia and have an inherited bleeding disorder to attend the Spring Retreat with a guest.  Sixty people joined us for a beautiful weekend at Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge. Amicalola Falls Georgia Adult Retreat

During the weekend, we had a chance to hike the trail to the famous waterfall.  Those who made the hike said it was hard but the view was worth it.  If you did not feel like hiking, you could drive to a scenic overlook and enjoy the breathtaking mountain views.  Part of the Appalachian Trail runs through Amicalola Falls, so you could check the goal of hiking part of the Appalachian Trail off your bucket list.

Amicalola Falls Georgia Adult RetreatThree educational workshops were offered on Saturday morning.

• The Clotting Game:  This fun and interactive game taught about how parts of blood work in the clotting process.
• Pain Management Beyond Medication:  This engaging workshop taught how to use the tools you have within yourself to manage pain.
• Navigating Disclosure of a Bleeding Disorder:  This group discussed how to decide when and how to talk about their individual bleeding disorder.

The weekend gave everyone a chance to learn something new, make new friends, and relax at a mountain retreat.  In the Spring, HoG plans to host one weekend retreat for adults in North Georgia and one in South Georgia.  Watch your mail for your invitation to the next fun event we have planned.
