Port Pillows for Travel Comfort

Teresa enlisted the help of friends to make port pillows  for her mother’s  friends who were undergoing chemotherapy after finding the ones offered online to be expensive.  Teresa realized people with bleeding disorders often have Port-A-Caths and contacted Leigh Carpenter, Director of Pharmacy at HoG, to ask if she would like some port pillows donated.  Leigh said, “Yes!”  Teresa and her friends went to work. They donated their labor of love pillows to Hemophilia of Georgia.

These pillows attach with Velcro to either a car seat or seatbelt to protect the port from the straps. They come in two sizes, 4 x 4 inches for infants and toddlers, and 10 x 5 inches for adults.  The ones for children have been made using Disney-themed fabric.

If someone in your family needs a port pillow, your outreach nurse will deliver one to you at a home visit, or you can contact the pharmacy to request one.  Teresa and her friends have offered to make more when needed.  We would like to thank her for this generous donation and greatly appreciate her giving back to the community.
