Medical Treatments Under The Skin

People with bleeding disorders have to be very careful with medical treatments that happen beneath the skin (invasive procedures).  The three most common treatments of this kind are:

• shots (injections) into a muscle
• surgery in the mouth such as pulling a tooth
• other kinds of surgery (operations).

Always check with your HTC first.  They can give you a treatment plan to help prevent bleeding.  With careful planning and follow-up by the comprehensive care team, you can have these treatments done safely.
