Teens and Sex

Becoming an adult involves all sorts of growth and changes. One set of changes happens mainly in your teenage years. These are the changes in the sexual part of you. Many changes occur as your body and your feelings mature. It can be very exciting. It can also be a little scary at times. You may not understand all the changes as they happen. teen couple

Sometimes teenagers with blood disorders worry that sexual activity, either while masturbating or with a partner, will cause a bleed. It rarely does. However, the stress and worry about bleeding may interfere with pleasure.

For young women with bleeding disorders, the process of becoming sexually mature may be even more stressful. Heavy bleeding during their monthly period can cause great anxiety.

You must decide for yourself when you are ready to have sex. This decision is best based on your feelings about your partner and your values and beliefs about sex. You will also want to be informed about birth control and how to protect yourself and your partner from getting an STD/STI (sexually transmitted disease/sexually transmitted infection).  If you have doubts about whether or not you are ready for sex, you probably are not ready.
