Application Process and Timeline

How to Apply

The Trish Dominic Physician Loan Repayment Assistance Program uses a competitive application process designed to identify hematologists who demonstrate a commitment to providing specialized bleeding disorder care in Georgia.

Before beginning an application, applicants are encouraged to review the Program Overview, Eligibility Requirements, and Metro and Non-Metro Service Tracks to determine whether the program is a good fit for their professional goals and current practice setting. 

Applications must be submitted through the online application portal by the published deadline. Applicant information submitted through the portal will be treated as confidential and used only for program administration, eligibility review, and selection purposes. Hemophilia of Georgia utilizes secure technology to help protect information provided during the application process. Incomplete applications or applications submitted after the deadline may not be considered.

Application Components

Applicants will be asked to provide:

•    Personal and contact information
•    Medical education, residency, and fellowship training history
•    Current employment and practice information at a Georgia Hemophilia Treatment Center
•    Educational debt information
•    A personal statement describing their commitment to bleeding disorder care and future career goals
•    A current resume or curriculum vitae (CV)
•    Required certification(s) to ensure applicant is in good standing and attestations to ensure applicant continues to meet minimum clinical service requirements.

Application Timeline
The following timeline applies to the FY 2026-2027 application cycle.

Applicant Notifications November 9 – November 13
Award Documentation and Disbursement Information Exchange November 16 – November 30

Dates are subject to change. Applicants will be notified of any significant modifications to the application schedule.

What Happens After I Apply?

Step 1: Application Review
Applications are reviewed to confirm eligibility and completeness. Applicants may be contacted if additional information or clarification is needed during the review process.

Step 2: Selection Process
Eligible applications are evaluated based on program priorities and established selection criteria. Factors may include commitment to bleeding disorder care, practice location, service track, workforce needs, educational debt burden, and alignment with program goals.

Step 3: Notification
Applicants will receive written notification regarding the status of their application during the notification period.

Step 4: Award Documentation
Selected applicants will be required to complete additional documentation, verify employment and loan information, and provide any materials necessary for award processing. Scholars (award recipients) will receive a 1099 form and will be responsible for taxes.

Step 5: Disbursement
Once all required documentation has been reviewed and approved, loan repayment assistance disbursements will begin according to program guidelines.

•    National Provider Identifier (NPI) number
•    Educational debt estimates and supporting information
•    Current CV or resume
•    Information needed to complete the required personal statement
