Eligibility

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

The Trish Dominic Physician Loan Repayment Assistance Program is intended for hematologists who are building or continuing careers in bleeding disorder care and who are committed to practicing at a Georgia Hemophilia Treatment Center.

Core Eligibility Requirements

Applicants should:
•    Hold an MD or DO degree.
•    Have completed an eligible residency program.
•    Have completed an accredited hematology or hematology/oncology fellowship. Metro Track applicants must have graduated from an accredited fellowship program within the previous seven years. No fellowship graduation time frame applies to applicants seeking funding through the Non-Metro Track.
•    Practice at an eligible Georgia Hemophilia Treatment Center and meet the minimum clinical service requirement of at least 10% effort devoted to bleeding disorder clinical care, not related to research. Verification from the applicant's institution will be required.
•    Provide patient-facing care to individuals with bleeding disorders.
•    Hold an unrestricted Georgia medical license.
•    Maintain appropriate hematology or hematology/oncology board eligibility or board certification.
•    Have qualifying educational loan obligations.
•    Remain in good professional standing.
•    Agree to the applicable service commitment. Scholars who accept an award commit to two years of service, inclusive of the award year. For each additional year (Years 2-5) that an award is received, an additional two-year service commitment is added. Service obligations are cumulative; for example, a recipient receiving awards in three separate years would incur a total six-year service commitment.
•    Must reapply each year to receive the award. Receipt of this award may have tax implications. Scholars are responsible for any applicable taxes and will be issued a Form 1099.
•    Meet all documentation and employment-verification requirements.

Educational Loans
Applicants will be asked to report estimated outstanding educational debt, including:
•    Undergraduate educational debt
•    Medical educational debt
•    Other qualifying educational debt
•    Previous educational debt payments
•    Assistance received from other loan repayment, loan forgiveness, scholarship, grant, or financial-support programs

* Applicants may be asked to provide supporting documentation if they advance in the selection process.
