Strengthening Access to Bleeding Disorders Care Across Georgia

The Trish Dominic Physician Loan Repayment Assistance Program is a physician workforce initiative administered by Hemophilia of Georgia. The program is designed to recruit and retain qualified hematologists who provide specialized care through Georgia’s Hemophilia Treatment Centers.

Through annual financial assistance intended to offset educational loan obligations, the program supports physicians who meet eligibility requirements and currently work at a Georgia Hemophilia Treatment Center to care for individuals with bleeding disorders in Georgia. This program is made possible through generous donor contributions.

Why This Program Matters
Bleeding disorders are lifelong, complex conditions that require specialized, comprehensive care. Georgia has a limited supply of hematologists with expertise in bleeding disorders, particularly outside major metropolitan areas. Educational debt and workforce pressures can make recruitment and long-term retention of these specialists more challenging.

The Trish Dominic Physician Loan Repayment Assistance Program seeks to:
•    Recruit physicians committed to caring for people with bleeding disorders.
•    Retain hematologists within Georgia’s Hemophilia Treatment Center network.
•    Improve access to specialized care across the state.
•    Support continuity of care for individuals and their families.
•    Encourage service in non-metro and underserved communities.
•    Strengthen the long-term stability of Georgia’s bleeding disorders workforce.

The program includes a Metro Track and a Non-Metro Track, with differential payments.

How the Program Works
Selected physicians receive annual loan repayment assistance in exchange for completing the program’s eligibility requirements and service commitment at an eligible Georgia Hemophilia Treatment Center.

Hemophilia of Georgia retains authority over program policies, eligibility determinations, awards, renewals, and ongoing monitoring. Participants must maintain appropriate licensure, professional standing, and the required clinical commitment throughout their participation

More than financial assistance, this program is an investment in continuity of care, physician workforce stability, and the health of Georgians living with bleeding disorders.
