Heparin I.V. Flush Syringe Recall
Hemophilia of Georgia received an urgent but voluntary product recall for Heparin I.V. Flush syringes manufactured by Medefil, Inc.  Nineteen lots of these syringes were recalled because of a contaminant in the Heparin Sodium USP, the active pharmaceutical ingredient in the syringes, which is manufactured by Scientific Protein Laboratories LLC. Hemophilia of Georgia did purchase some of the recalled syringes but none have been used or distributed to clients. If you have any questions about this recall, please contact the HoG pharmacy at (770) 518-8272.

Replacement Butterfly Needles
The Braun butterfly needles that are included in Refacto and Novo 7 Reconstitution Kits contain DEHP, a plasticizer that increases flexibility.  However, the FDA recommends using a safer plastic product.  If you are on one of these products, your Outreach Nurse will be contacting you.  Substitute butterfly needles that do not include DEHP are available from the HoG pharmacy. Please call the pharmacy or your nurse if you have questions.  Note:  the Braun butterfly needles included in the Monoclate P and Mononine Kits DO NOT contain DEHP and are safe to use.
