HoG Pharmacy Announces Reminder Program

Let HoG help you remember when it's time to order factor.  The new reminder program on www.hog.org sends you an email to remind you to place your factor order.  It is easy and open to everyone.  To sign up, visit www.hog.org and create a My HoG account if you don’t already have one.  From the My HoG page, click on the Reminder Program tab on the left side.  Then just select your start date and choose how often you want to be reminded.

Bullying Prevention Week

Bullying is a problem that no one should have to deal with. The third annual National Bullying Prevention Awareness Week is October 5-11. So it’s a good time to let you know about resources that can help you, a child or a young person you care about. This awareness week is sponsored by PACER’s National Center for Bullying Prevention and co-sponsored by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education, National Education Association, National PTA, and School Social Work Association of America.

Many bullies enjoy aggression and lack empathy for their victims. Others are being bullied. Their actions are a cry for help or a misguided attempt to appear tough and avoid being bullied themselves. Victims can suffer emotional and physical trauma that can lead to poor grades, depression, anxiety and physical complaints. Sometimes bullying leads to suicide. Kids and adults can be targeted for no particular reason. Other times it is because they are perceived as being weaker, because they are different or because they are viewed as a threat. Please let your HoG social worker know if you need help with a bullying problem. It’s always better to battle this problem with others rather than trying to deal with it on your own.

HoG Client Praises Online Ordering

Stefani is the mother of an HoG client and one of the first people to try the new online ordering system on the HoG website.  Here’s what she thinks of it:

“The HoG online ordering process is very user-friendly and allows me to place an order at my convenience. I highly recommend this ordering process.”

To learn more about the online ordering system, go to www.hog.org, click on the pharmacy tab, and choose How to Use the Online Order System on the left side of the page.

HoG Pharmacy Helps Houston

In the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, the Gulf States Hemophilia and Thrombophilia Center in Houston was unable to fill pharmacy orders for more than two weeks.  During that time, the HoG pharmacy staff pitched in to make sure that clients of the Houston pharmacy would have the factor they need.  More than 1.3 million units of factor were shipped to 57 people in Texas and Louisiana.

New HoG Staff Member

HoG welcomes Tony Crowe as Director of Managed Care.  In this newly-created position, Tony will work with health plans, employer groups, and government agencies to ensure that HoG can serve clients who wish to use our pharmacy.  Tony will work closely with Michelle Fitzwater who will continue to help clients with insurance issues.
