Horizons in Hemophilia, November 2012

By Karen Daniel, Marketing and Communications Director

The 30th Annual Hit ’Em for Hemophilia Golf Tournament was held October 30, 2012 in Alpharetta.  Hemophilia of Georgia is grateful to the over 230 golfers and corporate sponsors who helped raise almost $250,000.  These funds will go towards research for a cure for hemophilia.

The tournament began in 1983 and since that time has raised more than $12 million for bleeding disorders research. Over the years treatment has improved but there is still no cure.  However, significant progress is being made right now through clinical trials at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and at Emory/Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Thanks to everyone who supported the 30th annual Hit ’Em for Hemophilia Golf Tournament, Hemophilia of Georgia can continue to fund ground-breaking medical research.  Golf 2012 Bill A

Tournament chairman Bill Acree of the Atlanta Braves was honored for his 30 years of service to the Hit ’Em for Hemophilia Golf Tournament.  Bill received the 2012 Ernie Johnson Award, which was established in 2006 to honor an individual for long-standing support, leadership, and commitment to the tournament.  View photos from the tournament.
