Advate News

Published September 11, 2014

Leigh Carpenter, RPh, Director of Pharmacy

If you are currently using BAXJECT II with Advate, you will be interested to learn that Baxter has announced the approval of BAXJECT III, a new reconstitution system (way to mix) Advate. This new system reduces the number of steps compared to the BAXJECT II needleless device. The powder and the diluent come prepackaged together. There are no needles involved in the mixing. The step-by-step instructions involve:  Press, Swirl, Flip and Withdraw. The new system is now available in 2000 unit sizes. Additional assay sizes will transfer over to the BAXJECT III system in the coming months.

If your dosage contains multiple vials, the reconstituted volume in each vial may be withdrawn into one syringe. Detailed instructions are included in every package along with a troubleshooting guide. Your HoG nurse will be glad to demonstrate the new process for you. If you have questions, please call the HoG pharmacy.
