Have you ever thought about volunteering for one amazing week as a camp counselor?  Camp Wannaklot has promised approximately 160 campers one week filled with opportunity.  There will be chances to have fun, overcome challenges, try new things, make new friends, and reconnect with old friends.  All of this while enjoying some traditional camp activities which include horseback riding, biking, canoeing, swimming, tennis, archery, arts and crafts, basketball, nature study, ceramics and many more fun and exciting activities.  Hemophilia of Georgia partners with Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, Georgia to provide facilities, programming, personnel for specialized programming, and food service for our campers.

Here is your opportunity to be part of making the camp experience happen.  We can’t keep our promise to our campers without the help of almost 100 volunteer camp counselors and medical staff.  Try something new, and volunteer for one week with an amazing group of campers.  I speak from experience.  It will be a fun week that you will never forget.  I was a volunteer camp counselor for three summers before becoming the Camp Wannaklot Director.  It’s a job I’ve enjoyed for six summers now.

So, what are you waiting for?  Camp Wannaklot needs you!  Parents and family members of campers ARE eligible to apply to volunteer.  Counselors must be 18 years old, be available for the entire week of camp and have a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of our campers.  Still have questions or are uncertain if you will be a good fit?  Call or email me!  I’ll be happy to talk through any concerns you have.

If you’re interested in applying for a camp counselor position, please download the application https://www.hog.org/camp/page/volunteer-application or contact me, Kim Wilson at 770-518-8272, 1-800-866-4366 or kawilson@hog.org.  All Camp Wannaklot volunteers will report on Saturday, July 16, 2011 for orientation. Campers will arrive at Camp Twin Lakes on Sunday, July 17th and camp ends on Friday, July 22nd.
