We sometimes may forget who is in charge of our elected officials - us! We elect our representatives into office, and it is only with our votes that they stay there. The right to vote is a cornerstone of our democracy; it is our way to stand up and have our voice heard. This November 6th is national election day. Not only will we cast our vote for President of the United States, we'll also vote for representatives and senators at the national and local level.

In order to vote this November 6th, you must be registered. If you are not sure whether you are registered, you can confirm your registration status at the My Voter Page.

Any voter that is registered in Georgia can vote absentee by mail; this is useful for people working or attending school out of state, but who still claim residence in Georgia. Mail-in ballots can be requested now by contacting your county registrar's office, which you can find by checking your My Voter Page online. You must remember to mail your ballot back in enough time so that it is received in the county registrar's office no later than when the polls close on November 6th.

Some counties may have early voting sites and extended hours so that you can vote in person before November 6. In some areas, early voting can begin as early as October 15th. You can check to see if your precinct offers early voting at your My Voter Page  and determine your precinct's early voting hours.

There are some counties that will deliver your ballot to you if you are in the hospital. It is important that you contact your county registrar by November 1st to see if this option is available.

Here is a simple checklist for Election Day:
• Find your precinct at My Voter Page https://mvp.sos.state.ga.us
• Remember to take a photo ID with you to your precinct
