Golfers Come Out to Hit 'Em for Hemophilia

Published December 12, 2013

It was a beautiful fall day at the 31st Annual Hit ’Em for Hemophilia golf tournament on October 29th. With temperatures in the 70s, golfers happily headed out after breakfast to enjoy golf with friends, colleagues and the Atlanta Braves.  In the afternoon, participants returned to take part in the silent and live auctions and the tournament awards reception.  Over 200 raffle and auction items, worth almost $60,000, were sold at the reception and included airline tickets, jewelry, and Atlanta Braves memorabilia.

During the reception, master of ceremonies and longtime supporter, Atlanta Braves broadcaster Joe Simpson, was honored for his generosity to the Hit ’Em for Hemophilia Golf Tournament.  Joe received the 2013 Ernie Johnson Award, which was established in 2006 to honor an individual for long-standing support, leadership, and commitment to the tournament.

Hemophilia of Georgia is grateful to the over 200 golfers and corporate sponsors who helped raise $200,000 for research to find a cure for hemophilia. Significant progress is continuing right now through clinical trials at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and at Emory/Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Thank you to everyone who supported the 31st Annual Hit ’Em for Hemophilia golf tournament. We can’t continue to fund groundbreaking medical research without the generosity and support of people like you.  View photos from the tournament here:  https://www.hog.org/publications/detail/2013-golf-tournament-photos
