By Kim Williams, Senior Director of Client Engagement

Published December 12, 2022

On December 3, Hemophilia of Georgia (HoG) offered families in the inherited bleeding disorders community of Georgia an opportunity to celebrate the holiday season together. More than 100 families took advantage of the opportunity to network with other families and enjoy a wonderful day at Callaway Gardens.

Daily admission to Callaway Gardens was included with this event. Families were able to visit the Virginia Hand Callaway Discovery Center, Day Butterfly Center, Sibley Horticultural Center, Mr. Cason's Vegetable Garden, Callaway Brothers Azalea Bowl, Overlook Garden, Discovery Bicycle Trail, Pioneer Log Cabin, Ida Cason Callaway Memorial Chapel, and the nature trails. Families checked in with the HoG staff at the Information Center, then had the rest of the day to play until it was time for Fantasy in Lights.

A fun and educational scavenger hunt was hosted throughout the day. Families joined us at the Beach Pavilion to enjoy food at the vendor of their choice and a photo with Santa or Rudolph. Families enjoyed the new walking tour of “Fantasy in Lights” as well as the opportunity to ride the trolley or drive through the lights at Callaway Gardens. Spirits were high and the families were merry as they were dazzled by holiday scene after holiday scene crafted out of millions of lights. At the end of the night, families checked in with HoG staff to show their completed scavenger hunt and evaluation. These families received a gingerbread house gift and frame for their Santa photo. This event was a fun way to get in the holiday spirit.
