John Youtsey Memorial Scholarships Awarded to 29 Deserving Students

Congratulations to the 29 students who shared more than $75,000 in scholarships from Hemophilia of Georgia for the 2014-15 academic year. These scholarships are awarded in memory of John Youtsey, a former professor and Associate Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Georgia State University. Dr. Youtsey was a member of the Board of Directors of Hemophilia of Georgia and chaired the scholarship committee.
HoG awards the John Youtsey scholarships annually to Georgia residents affected by hemophilia or other bleeding disorders. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement, financial need, and personal goals. Children who have lost a parent to complications from a bleeding disorder are also eligible for the scholarship. Scholarship recipients are required to serve the bleeding disorder community by volunteering at least 12 hours with HoG.
Over the years, the John Youtsey Memorial Scholarship Program has awarded more than 410 scholarships totaling over $1,000,000.

Alexander A. is a business administration major at Morehouse College.
Aderyl B., whose goal is to become a veterinarian, is majoring in biology at Kennesaw State University.
Kelsey B. is a biology major at the University of Georgia and plans to attend Physician’s Assistant school.
Grant C. attends Anderson University and plans to do graduate work in the medical field.
Louis C. is majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology and hopes to become a hematologist.
Zach C. attends Georgia Southern University and is majoring in geology.
Chris D. is a communications major at Kennesaw State University. He would like to work for a radio or news station and coach high school lacrosse.
Carley F. attends the University of North Georgia and is majoring in early childhood education.
Lorenzo G. is a theatre major at Northwestern University. He hopes to have a career in the theatre and music industry.
Jacob G. attends Southern Crescent Technical College and is majoring in automotive technology. He would like to run an automotive business one day.
William G. is a nursing major at Clayton State University with a goal of becoming a nurse practitioner.
Lauren H. attends Shorter University and is a nursing major who would like to become a pediatric nurse.
Tia J. is an international business major at Hofstra University with management as her goal.
Troy J. is attending Georgia State University and is a computer science major.
Trell J. is a history major at Clayton State University and plans to become a high school teacher and administrator.
Katie K. is majoring in business administration at Pepperdine University and wants to earn an MBA.
Kenny K. is a pre-nursing major at the University of North Georgia. He hopes to work at a local hospital.
Michael P. attends the University of North Georgia and plans to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
Jacob P. is a biological engineering major at the University of Georgia and his future plans include attending medical school and becoming a hematologist.
Austin S. attends Purdue University and is an engineering major studying aeronautics and astronautics.
Elizabeth S. is a student at Georgia Tech majoring in civil engineering. She would like to work as a transportation engineer and earn her Professional Engineer license.
Victoria T. is an advertising major at Savannah College of Art & Design. She would like to work for a major advertising firm after graduation.
Anthony V. attends Dalton State College. He is majoring is criminal justice with a minor in psychology. He would like to become a lawyer at his own firm one day.
Cameron W. studies mass media arts at Georgia Perimeter College. His goal is to write and direct movies.
Charles W., a student at Georgia State University majoring in computer information systems, hopes to work for NASA in data management or IT support.
Emily W. is an early education major at the University of West Georgia. She plans to become an elementary school teacher.
JaRon W., a computer science major at Albany State, would like to work for a computer security firm.
Savannah W. is majoring in dairy science at Georgia Gwinnett College and hopes to attend veterinary school at the University of Georgia to study large animal medicine.
