Spring Family Camp
On March 22-24, 31 families enjoyed a weekend away at Camp Twin Lakes. On Friday night, Edith Rosato, HoG’s new CEO, welcomed the families. Families enjoyed an ice cream party followed by their choice of playing board games, watching a movie, or playing a basketball game.
Saturday morning was filled with educational workshops. In partnership with the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF), workshops covering a variety of topics were offered. NHF presenters offered a workshop about Managing Stress and another workshop about Communicating with Providers. Separate workshops were offered in Spanish. The first was titled "Factor Feud"- a game with bleeding disorder topics for categories. The second offered tips for communicating with providers. HoG staff led other workshops including infusion training and the Clotting Game to discover how blood works in the body.
The rest of the weekend included camp activities such as boating, hiking, swimming, archery, basketball and crafts. Families competed in the Family Fitness challenge during the weekend. Points were earned by participating in camp activities and exercise during Family Camp. Every family who participated received an insulated grocery tote bag.
On Saturday evening, families played "Backyard Games" led by Camp Twin Lakes staff. Check out the photos to see the fun that was had by all! Families enjoyed getting to know one another, sharing their stories, and hanging out with the HoG staff and volunteers.
