Teen Retreat 2026 – Charlotte, NC

By Kristi Fulford, Director of Camp and Client Events

Published February 13, 2026

We spent the weekend enjoying beautiful Camp Thunderbird in Lake Wylie, SC and doing a few fun activities in Charlotte, NC. Teens got the choice to participate in a cookie decorating class or compete in a pit crew teambuilding exercise at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.  To complete the evening in Charlotte, the teens headed to the food hall for dinner and fun with their friends and mentors.
While the group had tons of fun, HoG also provided education throughout the weekend. On Saturday night, everyone gathered and played a rousing game of ThinkFast Interactive trivia filled with pop culture and bleeding disorder questions. On Sunday morning, older teens took a first aid class. The younger teens played the Bleeding Disorder Game of Life and then broke out into two groups where they learned about the genetics of bleeding disorders and menstrual health.
Since Teen Retreat takes place over MLK weekend, we include a service component to benefit the area we visit. This year, our teens put together activity bags for Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC.

Teens concluded the weekend by providing feedback about their experiences. They loved getting to connect with their peers in the HoG community, trying new experiences, and gaining valuable education they can carry with them for the future.

If you have questions about HoG’s teen programs, please reach out to Kristi Fulford Director of Camp and Client Events at kffulford@hog.org or 770-518-8272.
