Trot to Clot Walk and Run Raises Over $65,000 for Camp Wannaklot!

Another April of wild weather caused havoc for the start of the spring Trot to Clot events. Severe thunderstorms caused the unprecedented cancellation of an HoG fundraising event, a first in 40 years! However, our amazing sponsors, participants, and volunteers were extremely supportive of the difficult decision that was made to cancel the Stone Mountain Trot to Clot on the day of the event. At HoG, we were very disappointed, but thankful to get everyone home safely.
Needless to say, the Development staff was eager to host the 3rd annual Augusta Trot to Clot on Saturday, May 30 and finally have a beautiful day to bring the community together in support of Camp Wannaklot. Fleet Feet Augusta once again hosted the packet pickup at their running store and brought out their team-in-training on the day of the race. It was a wonderful sight to watch several novice runners with their mentors encouraging them as they crossed the finish line, many completing their very first 5k race. A record number of 122 participants registered for the event and we look forward to continuing to grow each year.
The Trot to Clot events raised more than $65,000 for HoG’s Camp Wannaklot. In just a few weeks we’ll send 150 campers to Camp Twin Lakes to participate in a camp experience that will surely change their lives and create memories and lifelong friendships.
