Volunteer Spotlight: Beta Sigma Phi Xi Master Chapter

Published March 12, 2015

By Kelli White, Special Events/Volunteer Coordinator

Volunteers are an essential part of Hemophilia of Georgia’s success, providing over 7,600 hours last year to help prepare for and assist with programs like Camp Wannaklot, Trot to Clot Walk & Runs, the Hit ’Em for Hemophilia Golf Tournament and many other projects. We are very thankful for the continuous support we receive from all of our volunteers.

In addition to providing assistance around the state, we have a number of volunteer groups who come to HoG to help out with office projects. Volunteers have said that the opportunity to volunteer together as a group is part of what makes giving back so much fun. While in the office, they spend their time packaging materials, filling goodie bags, inventorying resources and best of all, spending time together!

The ladies of Beta Sigma Phi’s Xi Master Chapter are one group that has been volunteering in the HoG office for many years. Volunteer Jo Ann Stoddard initially encouraged them to get involved with HoG almost 30 years ago and they have volunteered multiple times every year since. Over the years, they have helped to package supplies and materials for every event at HoG and have continuously served as pharmacy volunteers.

Beta Sigma Phi’s Xi Master Chapter began as a local group in the Stone Mountain area and over the years expanded to various communities throughout metro Atlanta. They currently have 14 members of the chapter and contribute to multiple events and community projects every year.

“We really enjoy giving back to people in our community. When you see people who have problems larger than your own, it feels good to help them out and give back to an organization that serves others.” said Joan Krask, longtime member of Xi Master.

The ladies of Xi Master are always willing to take on any project or assignment and we very much appreciate their taking time out of their busy schedules to visit the office and assist us. Without these volunteers, we wouldn’t be as successful and efficient with our services and events.

We are in need of volunteers for a number of upcoming programs and events. If you are interested in getting more involved by volunteering with HoG, please contact Kelli White at kmwhite@hog.org or (770) 518-8272.
