Become a Bleeding Disorder Advocate!

Published September 30, 2016

by Nichelle Sims, J.D., Associate Director of Research and Advocacy

We’re excited to introduce the Hemophilia of Georgia Bleeding Disorder Advocacy Program! This program was created to increase advocacy efforts for the bleeding disorder community at the state and federal level, educate the public, and enhance awareness about important policy changes affecting our community. In addition, the program will serve as an extension of Hemophilia of Georgia’s advocacy efforts throughout the state. The program will consist of placing at least one trained volunteer bleeding disorder Advocate in each one of Georgia’s 18 public health districts across the state.

What does it take to be an Advocate?

  • Advocates must possess passion, energy, and interest in advocacy, as well as a commitment to serving the bleeding disorder community.
  • Advocates will share Hemophilia of Georgia’s mission, advocacy priorities, and accomplishments.
  • Advocates will engage with the bleeding disorder community in their district at client dinners, family camp, and other client events.
  • Advocates will raise awareness in the community and educate the public about bleeding disorders.

Ready to be a bleeding disorder resource for your community and your elected officials?
