When Hikie was told he needed a surgical procedure, his first thought wasn’t about the operating room—it was about bleeding risk. Like many people living with a bleeding disorder, Hikie knew that even routine medical procedures can carry serious complications without the right preparation. His experience, however, unfolded very differently, and far better, thanks to seamless collaboration between his physician, Hemophilia of Georgia nurses and pharmacists, and the Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC).

Members of the bleeding disorder community from around the world gathered in Kuala Lumpur, Maylasia on April 17-22 for the World Federation of Hemophilia’s (WFH) Global National Member Organization Training (GNMOT) and World Congress. Hemophilia of Georgia (HoG) was well represented by members of the senior leadership, clinical, and community engagement teams as well as two Youth Fellows who grew up attending Camp Wannaklot and are now engaged volunteers.
