Golfers are invited to participate in the 30th annual Hit ’Em for Hemophilia Golf Tournament on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Manor Golf and Country Club and Echelon in Alpharetta, Georgia.  Sponsored by Hemophilia of Georgia in partnership with the Atlanta Braves, the tournament supports critical research directed toward finding a cure for hemophilia, a hereditary blood clotting disorder that requires very expensive, life-long medical treatment.

Since 1982 the annual Hit ’Em for Hemophilia Golf Tournament has raised more than $12 million for research for a cure for inherited bleeding disorders. Over the years treatment has improved but there is still no cure.  However, significant progress is being made.  According to Jeff Cornett, Director of Training, Research and Advocacy, “this year the golf tournament is very important because we’re closer than we’ve ever been to a cure. The research that’s going on right now is very exciting.  Over the next three years Hemophilia of Georgia has committed millions of dollars to fund three different clinical trials to cure hemophilia A and B.”

Individuals and foursomes can register online at www.hog.org/golf.  The registration fee includes greens fees and cart, breakfast, lunch, goodie bag, and the opportunity to win exceptional prizes for first and second place teams.  In addition, all golfers are invited to attend the reception following the tournament which includes dinner, awards, raffle and live and silent auctions.   The individual registration fee is $425 per person.   Foursomes can save $200 by registering together at the team rate of $1500.  The tournament also features a Golf 101 for Women seminar and clinic for women who want to start playing golf.  Details are available online at www.hog.org/golf or by contacting Vic McCarty, Director of Development, (770) 518-8272 or vamccarty@hog.org.
