Schedule a School In-Service Presentation

Published July 8, 2015

Horizons in Hemophilia, July 2015

By Michelle Lowe, RN, Director of Nursing

The summer break is almost over and another school year will soon begin in Georgia. HoG Outreach Nurses are available to do school in-service presentations at your child’s school. It’s very important for teachers, nurses and other school personnel to be familiar with your child’s bleeding disorder. Having your Outreach Nurse discuss bleeding disorders with school personnel will not only help them to know what to do in the event a problem arises, but it will also help to ease their fears of caring for a child with a bleeding disorder.

Your child’s safety is of utmost importance. Whether your child is going to a new school or has new teachers, or the school just needs a review from last year, it is always a good idea to have an in-service to ensure that everyone involved in your child’s care is aware of how to care for your child and what to do in case of an emergency.

You will be receiving a HoG permission form in the mail soon. If you would like your Outreach Nurse to do an in-service, please complete the permission form and return it to us so we can make the necessary arrangements. If you do not receive the form, you may contact your Outreach Nurse directly to schedule a school in-service.

Remember, the more educated school personnel are about bleeding disorders, the safer your child will be.
