Rebinyn Now Available

The FDA has approved Rebinyn (pronounced “reh-be-nine”) by Novo Nordisk for patients with hemophilia B.  It is a glycopegylated recombinant factor IX product.  The new product was approved in May 2017 and is now available to the public.  Rebinyn comes in three different dosage strengths:  500 IU, 1000 IU, and 2000 IU.  The diluent amount is 4 mL for all sizes.  It is indicated for on-demand treatment and control of bleeding episodes including during surgery in adults and children.  It is not indicated for routine prophylaxis or for immune tolerance induction.

Rebinyn can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 months until the expiration date, or at room temperature for a single period of not more than 6 months.  The product must be used within 4 hours after mixing.  Each kit contains a vial with Rebinyn powder, a prefilled syringe with diluent, and a plastic sterile vial adapter for needle-less reconstitution.

If you are interested in trying Rebinyn, please contact your Hemophilia Treatment Center for more information.  The HoG and Beacon pharmacies will have it available.  If you need training on using Rebinyn, contact your HoG nurse.
