The Hemophilia Handbook
The Hemophilia Handbook, published by Hemophilia of Georgia and distributed to all clients in the state, is a guide to living with a bleeding disorder. This comprehensive, easy-to-read resource for people with hemophilia and their families was originally published in 1988.
The current, fourth edition was published in 2002 and contains 348 pages of up-to-date information on these important topics: Understanding Hemophilia, Genetics, Comprehensive Care, Infusing Factor, Types of Bleeds, Staying Healthy, Complications, Resources, Feelings and Reactions, and Money Matters
The handbook also contains information on these topics: Recombinant Factor, Hepatitis, Factor Recalls, Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, Factor Purification Methods, Ports and Lines, EMLA Cream and Ela-Max Cream, Changes in Medicare, Immunization Schedules. Immune Tolerance, and Parvovirus.
Since 2002, Hemophilia of Georgia has also offered a Spanish-language version of The Hemophilia Handbook. La Guía de Hemofilia is the most comprehensive Spanish-language resource available for people with hemophilia.
